Help Wanted

North Valley Food Bank is often in the fortunate and unique position to have more volunteers wanting to help at our food bank than we have volunteer opportunities.  This is true nearly all year round, the exception being summertime.

During the summer, there a number of important volunteer needs at our food bank.We need help on food distribution Thursdays, this could be anything from food prep and completion of food boxes to help with client check in and food box carry out.We need folks to pick up food at local grocery stores. Because we pickup from stores 7 days a week, we sometimes simply need backup support for various positions such as home delivery should a schedule conflict arise.

We need help with rescuing food which would primarily be at the end of our wonderful Farmers’ Market that takes place every Tuesday through September.  The array of beautiful nutritious produce is simply awesome! The food donated last summer easily topped 5000#’s! It takes about an hour each week to collect the food, deliver it to the food bank, weight it in and make sure it is stored in our walk-in cooler.  This starts around 7:15PM.
If you have a few extra hours this summer, please consider volunteering with us.  If you would like to learn more, please contact our volunteer coordinator, Dennis Theissen at 249-3323.

North Valley Food Bank relies heavily on donations from our wonderful community.
In giving, you help provide food to local individuals and families in need of our  most basic human need – food!
