Request for Proposals : Cooking and Nutrition Education

Dinner plate with delicious food Would you like to teach a cooking or nutrition class?

The North Valley Food Bank is seeking proposals from individuals and/or organizations to offer nutrition education classes during the summer and fall of 2016.

For over 40 years, the North Valley Food Bank has provided food to those who may not know where their next meal is coming from.  Our new facility has enabled us to increase our services and one way we are striving to do so is by offering courses in nutrition and cooking at the food bank.

We are seeking proposals for the teaching of basic health instruction to include nutrition education, cooking classes and other educational courses that address food insecurity, hunger, and promote healthy nutrition.

Proposals are welcome from individuals and companies.  The targeted audience includes food bank clients or eligible clients as a priority but is also open to the public.

Successful proposals will include:

  • Outline of Course:  What will you teach?  What will the attendees leave with?
  • Proposed schedule and number of courses.
  • Proposed cost to NVFB broken down to include:
    • Materials
    • Compensation

Proposals must be received by April 30, 2016.

We are exploring all possibilities and welcome your ideas for how we can best utilize our kitchen and facility to increase healthy eating habits and the availability of healthy food options.

With this Request for Proposals we hope to gain a proposal for courses over the entire summer or a number of proposals for the teaching of cooking and nutrition classes.

We will select one or several proposals based on cost, class offering and the ability to complete the proposed courses.
