Our Board of Directors consists of community members from around the Flathead Valley who are passionate about food security. Board members have the opportunity to actively engage in the work of NVFB, advocate for food security and strong communities, help with program development, events and fundraising, and serve in an advisory role.

Responsibilities:

·       Attend at least 10 out of 12 board meetings annually

·       Provide leadership, governance and oversight

·       Serve as an adviser to the NVFB team to develop and implement NVFB’s strategic plan

·       Review agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings

·       Approve the annual budget, reports, and relevant business decisions

·       Be informed of and meet all legal and fiduciary responsibilities

·       Assist the board chair and governance committee in identifying and recruiting other Board members

·       Serve on committees or task forces and take on special assignments as needed

·       Represent NVFB in the community

Time Commitment:

Plan for an estimated 10 hours of volunteer  service each month. Regular service includes preparation and attendance of board meetings and service on one or more committees.

Additionally, we encourage, but do not mandate, some degree of volunteerism at NVFB. This helps our board members better understand the functions of the organization and the community that we serve.

Our >board terms are 3 years. Board members may serve up to 2 terms.
