Rural Pantry Delivery Program

After a generous community donation in the spring of 2020, North Valley Foodbank was able to purchase a used refrigerated box truck. Soon after it arrived, the truck hit the road, clocking thousands of miles all over NW Montana. We currently deliver food to partner agencies spanning from Glacier to Lincoln County including FAST Blackfeet in Browning, Yaak Food Cupboard, Troy Food Pantry, Libby Food Pantry, and Tobacco Valley Food Pantry in Eureka.

This program was initially made possible by the Farmer to Families Food Boxes that were distributed nation-wide in the height of the COVID pandemic. Since the conclusion of that program, Montana Food Bank Network and The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) have continued efforts to provide fresh food to food bank customers. We have also received generous support from Hopa Mountain, Oro y Plata, and Flathead Food Bank to assist our partner pantries. Together, we are meeting a critical need in rural NW Montana. Since the conception of this program, we have delivered over a million pounds of food to rural panties!

A special note of gratitude to our road warrior, Larry Vanmersbergen! This program wouldn’t be possible without him behind the wheel, taking to the roads rain or shine.
